Important Update Hints for jWebSocket 1.0 beta 8

Since jWebSocket version 1.0 beta 8 we support the usage of multiple engines concurrently.

The major purpose is

  • to support two or more independent gateways e.g. an optional separate intranet access for security reasons by sharing a common server and common business logik,
  • to allow easy benchmarking and automated tests for the various engines in a single session.

Changes

Up to version 1.0 beta 7 all engines were listed in the <engines> section of the jWebSocket.xml. Only the FIRST one was activated and started.

Up to version 1.0 beta 7 all engines were listed in the <engines> section of the jWebSocket.xml. Only the FIRST one was activated and started.

Required Adjustments

In the default jWebSocket.xml in the download packages we moved all engines into a new <engineDefaults> section, only the jWebSocketTCPEngine was left in the previous <engines> section.

We kept all default engine configurations for your convenience in the new <engineDefaults> section. To use and activate one or more engines please simply copy and paste the desired engines from the <engineDefaults> section to the <engines>section and adjust the settings according to your environment.

If you intent to activate and use two or more engines concurrently e.g. for test purposes or to provide an separate intranet gateway beside a public internet access please be aware to configure different ports for each engine!
